DARPA's Mind-Controlled Prosthetic Arm Could Be on the Market in Four Years

It is amazing how much the electrical engineers, computer engineers and scientist have reached by developing a mind controlled hand. However, this is not the first type of robot hand that has been developed recently. Few years ago I have visited New York University. Their electrical engineering lab staffs have developed a robot named Caesar. They so far developed a hand and head. Their goal is to develop a fully functional robot with legs, hands and an ability to hear, speak and see. They want to use this product to help elderly or disabled people fulfill their physical limitations. The engineers are trying to make the product very cheap (instead of 100 million dollars). They were using five dollar cameras for the visual identification, a microphone for hearing, and a speaker for speaking. Most of the parts were cheap and easily replaceable. They have made their code public so they could either get some help or maybe even help those people in DAPRA who made a mind-controlled arm. I believe that such work could only be advanced further if people stop making private businesses for every innovation. I think that the engineers in NYU will advance further because they welcome anyone who is will to help them.
